Consolidated Disaster Recovery Using Virtualization
PlateSpin Forge is a disaster recovery hardware appliance that provides out-of-the-box protection for server workloads. In the event of production server downtime or a disaster, protected workloads can be rapidly recovered and continue to run on the PlateSpin Forge appliance until they can be restored to the production environment. Available in either a 10 or 25 workload protection model, PlateSpin Forge allows enterprises to cost-effectively match their recovery investment with the size of their data center. The latest version provides SAN integration, support for 64-bit Windows workloads and multiple recovery points for greater flexibility and workload integrity.

“Plug In and Protect” Physical and Virtual Server Workloads
PlateSpin Forge is a consolidated recovery hardware appliance that protects both physical and virtual server workloads using embedded virtualization technology. In the event of a production server outage or disaster, workloads can be rapidly powered on in the PlateSpin Forge recovery environment and continue to run as normal until the production environment is restored.
Designed to protect between 10 and 25 workloads (applications), PlateSpin Forge ships with all storage, applications and virtualization technology pre-packaged and ready to go. Organizations can also opt to leverage existing SAN storage for the recovery environment. For larger implementations, multiple PlateSpin Forge appliances can be deployed and centrally managed through a “single pane of glass” Web management console.
By dramatically reducing the time and specialized technical resources required to plan, provision, deploy and test a recovery environment, PlateSpin Forge puts workload protection and recovery within reach for small and medium-sized enterprises as well as departments and branch offices within larger enterprises. With PlateSpin Forge, organizations can begin reliably protecting their physical and virtual workloads in a matter of hours as opposed to months.

Quicker, Smarter, More Economical |
PlateSpin Forge revolutionizes the way disaster recovery solutions are deployed, tested and managed by offering an affordable and easy-to-use solution for protecting all workloads in the data center. With PlateSpin Forge, data centers can protect whole server workloads – both system and data volumes – within a single bootable recovery environment using virtualization. Providing consolidated workload protection and rapid recovery with no need for costly duplicate hardware and software, PlateSpin Forge is disaster recovery evolved.

Easier to Test
Regular testing is a critical but often overlooked component of a disaster recovery plan. PlateSpin Forge allows organizations to rapidly and easily test the integrity of workload replication. With a single click, users can take a virtual snapshot of the recovery workload, power it on within a private internal network and quickly validate the recovery plan to ensure that recovery metrics including RTO and RPO are met. Because the test snapshot is fenced off from the production network, users can work without impacting the integrity of the production environment.

Faster to Recover and Restore
It is no longer sufficient simply to be able to recover from an outage. The recovery must also be fast and seamless in order to minimize business disruption and data loss. With PlateSpin Forge, recovery time in the event of downtime is as simple as powering on a virtual machine. PlateSpin Forge enables organizations to cost-effectively improve recovery time and point objectives across a broad range of server workloads. PlateSpin Forge provides the flexibility to restore workloads to any physical or virtual host regardless of manufacturer, make or model.

Simpler to Manage
PlateSpin Forge includes an intuitive Web-based interface for managing, monitoring and reporting on all aspects of workload protection and recovery. An ever-present dashboard enables users to view the status of their protection plan at all times and receive actionable alerts via a mobile device. PlateSpin Forge’s unique integrated management interface radically reduces the time, effort and training required to administer a recovery solution.

Definitions
* Recovery Point Objective – the time between the latest backup and the system disaster, representing the nearest historical point in time to which a system can be recovered.
* Recovery Time Objective – the length of time between a system disaster and when the system is again operational.
* Test Time Objective (TTO) – measures the time and effort required to test a disaster recovery plan to ensure its effectiveness. TTO, or the ease with which recovery plans can be tested, is emerging as a key disaster recovery metric.
