Definition of Variations

Variations to Projects

Austnet calculates costs to undertake a project OR program development on the basis of the time spent, the levels of expertise required, difficulty in undertaking the project, and the times required (e.g. if it must be undertaken after hours) , and the IP ( Intellectual property required ) etc

It will use its best endeavors, expertise and its experience to determine the extent of the tasks, expertise, degree of difficulty to determine the tasks required.

How ever it is the customer to fully detail their expectations, site and environmental limitations, and exactly what responsibility their requirements are, in a written format.

Customers are qequired to provide a full specification requirements document.

A Variation
A variation is anything outside the project description and specifications. In a spirit of good will, Austnet will be accommodating of the client requirements but not at its expense. Any changes or enhancements that are outside or additional to that specified specifically in the signed specification will be charged separately on a time and materials basis. Essentially, any work or task undertaken that would not be undertaken in the normal course of events, except to undertake such work or tasks specified for a customers project id regarded as chargeable.

Variations:
The deliverables are limited to all those things outlined in the final specification which is signed off by both parties or which are accepted by the client by way of a purchase order. This includes things like the look and functionality of a program or application or the delivery of a defined outcome.

What we mean may not be the same as what the project sponsor understands. If it is NOT specifically mentioned or documented, the chances are that it is excluded.

Estimated Timeframe
Unless specifically stated ALL time frames are estimates only, unless our specification states a time, date or timeframe. As contractors, project sponsors must understand that Austnet will typically be undertaking work for other customers. Periods of testing, feedback, and subsequent modifications and alterations or those involving user / customer feed back or testing may, and often do involve indeterminate time frames. This may especially be the case where support is required from 3rd parties such as manufacturers

Austnet conduct jobs / tasks / development / implementations as “Contractors” NOT as employees. As such our personnel may not work from 8:30am until 5:30pm 5 days a week.

Time blowouts resulting from situations where a customer needs to undertake preparatory work or reconfiguration where we remain on site waiting is regarded as a variation.

Core Project Assumptions:
That all data supplied is accurate and consistent. That all calculations provided produce accurate results. Calculations are the responsibility of the customer.

On Site Delay’s:
Where a customer commits to provide a working and correctly configured environment, and Austnet contractors are unable to commence work for a period of time when on site, this is treated as “out of scope and is therefore charged as a variation.

Project Constraints:

Client MUST inform Austnet of any and ALL project restraints, especially where these involve resources, staff, or times.

If tasks or work is delayed whilst a customer fixes or adjusts their systems they will be charged as a variation.

If a system is discovered to not operate in a manner that allows an Austnet contractor to undertake tasks or to install applications or undertake the project, the customer will be charged on a time basis.

If Austnet is required to undertake an environmental fix or reconfiguration of the site setup problems this will be regarded as a variation and will be charged on a time and materials basis.
